Colorado psychiatrist loses license for spending $150,000 of hospitalized patient's money

May 1, 2006

On March 3, 2006 psychiatrist Kathy A. Morall entered into an agreement with the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners in which she agreed to surrender her license after being found to have committed unprofessional conduct. Dr. Morall had treated a patient in 2003 for whom she arranged to be admitted to a nursing home, where Dr. Morall was listed as the patient's treating physician. Dr. Morall accepted a power of attorney over the patient's estate and improperly used $150,000 of the patient's money in ways that did not benefit the patient. Dr. Morall agreed not to apply for a new license in Colorado.
