Indiana medical board files charges against psychiatrist Wrenda Gallien, convicted on drug, prescribing charges

On June 4, 2008 the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana filed a Complaint against psychiatrist Wrenda Gallien, seeking to impose appropriate disciplinary sanctions. The Complaint states that Dr. Gallien was indicted in November 2003 by a Jefferson County (Kentucky) grand jury on 38 various counts relating Controlled Substances, unlawful prescribing and tampering with evidence. It states that she was indicted again in March 2005 on 21 various counts also relating to Controlled Substances, unlawful prescribing and tampering with evidence. The Kentucky Medical Board suspended her license in April 2007 for being “unable to practice medicine according to acceptable and prevailing standards of care.” Dr. Gallien pleaded guilty in January 2008 to a total of 13 counts of Prohibited Acts Relating to Controlled Substances and 9 counts of Wrongful Filling Prescriptions. 1
