Psychology board reprimands Maine psychologist Martha McIntosh

January 3, 2013

On May 8, 2012, the Maine Board of Examiners of Psychologists formally reprimanded psychologist Martha McIntosh for incompetence relative to her treatment of one patient, in that she, among other things, made extensive disclosures regarding her personal life; engaged in discussions regarding her marriage and her husband’s fidelity (particularly in light of the patient’s own marital problems, sexual dysfunction and obsession with sexual issues) and failed to document details of significant discussion with the patient. In addition to the reprimand, McIntosh is subject to disciplinary consultation with a Board-approved psychologist for a minimum of one year.
