Psychiatrist Dham Gupta suspended; sought patients' help in finding girl to pay for sex

October 11, 2013

On June 24, 2013, the New York State Department of Health State Board for Professional Medical Conduct suspended the license of psychiatrist Dham Gupta for 12 months. The Board’s document states that the following charges against Gupta were sustained: Failure to maintain records, moral unfitness, negligence and gross negligence. These charges relate, in part, to Gupta’s attempts to enlist the help of his patients to find a white girl who would have sex with him for money, per the Board’s document. After his initial request, Gupta followed up with the patients, calling on several occasions to find out the status of his request. Gupta did not deny making these requests of his patients.
