Florida psych hospital worker arrested for abuse of disabled adult

A former employee of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee was arrested on a charge of abuse of a disabled adult by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Aaron Alexander Gibson, 22, of Gadsden County, was charged after the Medicaid Fraud Control unit launched an investigation into allegations of abuse at the Chattahoochee facility following a referral by the Adult Protective Services Division of the Department of Children and Families Services. Investigators charge that Gibson shoved and struck a disabled adult resident several times.

Gibson, whose employment was terminated, was released on a $2,500 bond after being charged with one count of abuse of a disabled adult, a third-degree felony that carries of penalty of up to five years in prison and more than $5,000 in fines if convicted.
