Psychiatrist Surendra Johri Facing Even More Charges

July 25, 2018

UTICA, N.Y. — Psychiatrist Surendra Johri, accused of forcible touching and sexual abuse, is now facing additional sex crime charges. According to Utica Police, Johri has been charged with two counts of forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor, and two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree, a class B misdemeanor.

Johri turned himself in on June 18 to face charges of third-degree sex abuse and forcible touching, which police say are related to alleged misconduct by Johri while working as a psychiatrist in Utica. His most recent arrest stems from incidents occurring in 2017 at community Health Behavior Services where he alleged to have touched a female patient sexually, police said.

Johri is due to appear in Utica City Court again on Aug. 16.
