Board Issues Accusation Against Psychiatrist Monissa Solberg, 2007 UCLA Geffen School Grad

February 7, 2019

On January 29, 2019, the Medical Board of California issued an Accusation against psychiatrist Monissa J. Solberg, who is a 2007 graduate of the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine.

The Board’s document states that the Accusation, which seeks to revoke/suspend her medical license or take other disciplinary action against her is based on Solberg having voluntarily surrendered her Rhode Island medical license on August 7, 2018.

The Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline found that Solberg had an intimate relationship with one of her patients, and had failed to check the prescription monitoring program (in violation of statute) before prescribing the patient an opioid drug.

Additionally, the Rhode Island board found that Solberg’s records for the patient failed to contain adequate documentation educating the patient about the adverse risk of taking alcohol, or other psychoactive medications (specifically benzodiazepines), or the risk of tolerance, overdose, or death.

Thirty percent of convictions of psychiatrists and psychologists are for sex-related violations.
