Phoenix Psychiatrist Rajeev Billing Arrested on Controlled Substance Charges Involving Patient

February 4, 2020

PHOENIX — A Phoenix addiction psychiatrist was arrested Friday after allegedly sharing and doing illicit drugs with a patient.

Rajeev Singh Billing, 37, allegedly smoked marijuana and ingested cocaine with a patient with whom he developed a friendship, according to court documents.

Billing was fired by 2nd Chance Treatment Centers on Sunday, according to the law firm representing the treatment center.

Billing allegedly first offered the patient marijuana and alcohol while the two hung out at his home watching boxing matches in December, according to court documents.

The patient initially declined because of worry of failing a drug test and not receiving substance abuse medication, according to court documents.

Billing allegedly said he would delay a drug test in order to make sure the drugs were out of the patient’s system, according to court documents. The patient then allegedly agreed to and partook in smoking marijuana, court documents say.

Billing and the patient later went to a strip club and allegedly smoked more marijuana before returning to his home and ingesting cocaine, according to court documents.

The patient was also allegedly given oxycodone by Billings, according to court documents.

Cellphone video provided by the patient allegedly shows Billing smoking marijuana, according to court documents.

A search warrant executed at Billings’ home on Jan. 17 turned up marijuana, drug paraphernalia for marijuana and cocaine, and three prescription bottles, court documents say.
