Oregon Psychologist Craig Steinberg Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

April 7, 2020

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Two men, including a local psychologist, were arrested for allegedly trading child pornography online.

Matthew Werner was arrested on Wednesday, according to Springfield police. Craig Steinberg, a practicing psychologist, was arrested Friday.

Both were charged with 10 felony counts of child pornography in the first degree.

Officials say they launched the investigations into Steinberg and Werner in March of 2020 after receiving information from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force that both men were involved in trading child pornography via the internet.

Springfield Police obtained a search warrant for Steinberg’s and Werner's residence, where they allegedly located and seized several electronic devices including computers.

Police claim numerous films and photographs depicting child pornography were found on Steinburg's devices.

According to the website "Psychologytoday.com," Steinberg has a Ph.D in psychology and an office on Willamette Street in Eugene.

It's unknown if the cases are related.
