California board revokes psychologist Biatriz Zamudio’s license for failure to report sexual abuse of child

June 1, 2007

On June 1, 2007, the California Board of Psychology revoked Biatriz Zamudio’s license to practice for gross negligence and unprofessional conduct. Ms. Zamudio counseled two children who reported having been sexually abused by other children in their household (not siblings). As a mandated reporter (one who under state law is required to report to certain state agencies any knowledge or reasonable suspicion of child abuse, sexual abuse, etc.), she failed to make a report of sexual abuse of a child when she had knowledge of such. She was also required to reimburse the Board $20,267,37 in investigation and prosecution costs. 1
