Maryland “ADD” psychiatrist surrenders license following complaints

November 16, 2007

On November 16, 2007 Maryland psychiatrist Anil Sanghera surrendered her license to the Maryland Board of Physicians. Dr. Sanghera came under Board investigation following the receipt of two complaints by the Board. The investigation concluded that Dr. Sanghera, who specialized in the treatment of “adult ADD,” committed immoral or unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine; failed to meet the appropriate standards for the delivery of quality care and failed to keep adequate medical records. The Board’s statement of charges includes specific, patient-specific allegations that Dr. Sanghera failed to perform standard psychiatric evaluations; failed to perform or document having performed medical evaluations when prescribing controlled/non-controlled substances; diverting controlled substances; entering into dual relationships with friends, family members and an employee by serving as their prescribing physician and failing to maintain medical records on patients to whom she prescribed controlled/non-controlled substances.1
