UK council issues notice of Caution on psychologist Andrina McCormack for misconduct, incompetence

May 15, 2012

On May 15, 2012, the UK Health Professions Council's Conduct and Competence Committee issued a written Caution to psychologist Andrina McCormack, which found her fitness to practice impaired by reason of misconduct and incompetence.

According to the Council's document, McCormack failed to with a patient whom she incorrectly advised that she would be carrying out assessments for dyslexia and dyspraxia.

During the consultation with the patient, McCormack failed to inform the patient of: the purpose of the consultation at the beginning; the nature of the assessment; and that she would be providing a report to the patient's employer, based on the information the patient conveyed throughout the course of the consultation.

Moreover, McCormack acted outside the scope of her assignment in that she prepared a report expressing opinions on the patient's ability to perform her job, which was unrelated to the results of the assessments she carried out.
