Psychologist Michael J. Perkins suspended, convicted for prescription fraud

On August 14, 2012, the Virginia Board of Psychology suspended indefinitely psychologist Michael J. Perkins.

The Virginia Board’s document states that From May 2009 until April 2010, Perkins forged prescriptions for the controlled substances OxyContin, Valium and an injectable hormone called Delatestryl for his own use, using the prescription pad of his employer, Comprehensive Psychological Associates, who terminated his employment once the prescription fraud was discovered.

Further, Perkins pleaded guilty in Norfolk Circuit Court to prescription fraud and was placed on probation for two years, at which time the felony charge could be reduced to misdemeanor or dismissed.
