State orders psychiatrist Raj Dantuluri to cease practice following conviction for sexual abuse of teen

June 19, 2009

The New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct issued an Order For Non-Practice of Medicine on psychiatrist Raj A. Danthuluri.  Danthuluri was convicted in December 2008 of endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree sexual abuse, having been found to have sexually abused a 16-year-old patient during therapy sessions. Authorities reported that the minor patient told her mother that Dantuluri had engaged in inappropriate sexual touching during visits in May and July 2007. His sentencing is scheduled for later this year, when he faces up to one year in jail.  He will also have to register as a sex offender.
