Arizona board cites chronic marijuana use in social worker's license denial

January 23, 2014

On November 7, 2013, the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners denied the license application of master social worker Mary Demetrovich. The Board’s document states that despite reporting on her 2003 and subsequent license applications that she did not use any illegal substances. She allowed her license to lapse in 2011 but in 2013 submitted a new application in which she disclosed a 2010 arrest which she failed to report to the Board at the time and a 2008 job termination. A Board investigation of treatment record revealed that Demetrovich had been a continual marijuana user since 1999.
