Oregon Child Psychologist Craig Steinberg Sentenced to 15 Years Prison for Child Porn

December 5, 2020

A child psychologist who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison, the Lane County District Attorney's Office said.

The district attorney's office announced in a news release Craig Steinberg will serve 15 years after pleading guilty to 15 counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.

Steinberg was a child psychologist in private practice at the time of his arrest. According to Springfield police, Steinberg worked at SCAR Jasper Mountain from January 1997 through April 2007. He worked for the Bethel School District from 2014 to 2015 and again from 2017 to 2019. He had worked at Vista Counseling and Consultation as a private contractor since September 2019. He also taught a class at Thurston Middle School last school year.

Springfield police arrested him earlier this year after an investigation revealed he had been downloading and sharing "a significant volume of child sexual abuse images and videos for a number of years," according to the news release.
