Asheville Academy for Girls Settles Child Abuse, Neglect Lawsuit

Asheville Academy for Girls and its Oregon-based corporate owner Family Help & Wellness quietly settled a lawsuit filed by the parent of a child under 13, identified as M.C., who attended the program for three months in 2024.

The suit alleged negligence, fraud, emotional distress, and breach of contract, claiming staff failed to supervise the child, allowed repeated elopements from campus, ignored escalating self-harm that led to multiple ER visits, and blocked parent–child contact.
