Calgary Psychiatrist Muhammad Rahman Denied Bail following Arrest for Abducting Son

Calgary psychiatrist Muhammad Rahman was arrested in Mauritius in December 2025 on an international warrant after allegedly abducting his five-year-old son in December 2023, taking the child overseas, cutting off all contact with the boy’s mother and siblings.

An Alberta judge denied Rahman bail, finding that the Crown had met all grounds for detention because Rahman poses a serious flight risk and a risk of re-abducting the child.
