Complaints Continue to Mount against Florida Psychiatrist Andrew Sorial
June 8, 2026
A South Florida psychiatrist already facing allegations that he asked female patients to remove clothing during appointments is now the subject of additional complaints and a civil lawsuit. According to reports, the growing number of accusations involves women who say the physician requested increasingly revealing examinations during telehealth sessions that were unrelated to their psychiatric treatment.
Psychiatrist Andrew Sorial had his medical license emergency-suspended earlier this year after state investigators concluded there was evidence he exploited patients under his care. Previous state documents alleged that some patients were asked to expose intimate areas of their bodies, provide photographs, or participate in so-called “body assessments” that patients later described as inappropriate and distressing.
The latest complaints suggest the allegations may be broader than initially reported. Regulators continue to investigate, while civil litigation is moving forward on behalf of former patients. The case has drawn attention to the power imbalance in psychiatric treatment and the importance of professional boundaries, particularly in telehealth settings where examinations may be more difficult to monitor.
