Former Child Patients of UK Psych Facility Receive Compensation for Abuses from 1960s to 1995

More than 90 former patients of the Hill End Adolescent Unit in St. Albans have received a total of £5.3 million in compensation for sexual abuse and mistreatment they suffered between the late 1960s and the unit’s closure in 1995. Children as young as 10 were given adult doses of sedatives as punishment, left unconscious for long periods, and subjected to controversial therapies that made them vulnerable to abuse by staff.
