Illinois Psychologist Charles Edgar Alcorn Suspended Three Years for Sex with Patient

On October 21, 2025, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) suspended the license of psychologist Charles Edgar Alcorn indefinitely, for no less than three years.

This disciplinary action was the result of Dr. Alcorn having been found to have committed unethical, unauthorized, or unprofessional conduct; sexual misconduct, sexual abuse, or sexual relations with one's client; and violating the American Psychological Association’s "Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct."

According to the initial complaint issued by the IDFPR on January 14, 2025:

“From on or about 2018 through on or about 2023, Alcorn treated patient A.

“Starting on or about March 2019, during therapy sessions, Alcorn engaged in sexual misconduct, sexual abuse, or sexual relations with patient A and Alcorn suggested that he and patient A re·enact scenes from patient A's past sexual abuse.

“During these sessions Alcorn engaged in sexual misconduct, sexual abuse, or sexual relations when among other conduct, he had sexual intercourse with patient A.

“On or about May 6, 2023, Alcorn engaged in sexual misconduct, sexual abuse, or sexual relations when he sent patient A sexually explicit text messages.

“On May 6, 2023, Alcorn sent patient A a shirtless picture of himself.

“On or about September 2023, Alcorn engaged in sexual misconduct, sexual abuse, or sexual relations when he sent patient A sexually explicit text messages on the Viber app.

“On or about December 11, 2024, patient A filed a report with the Glen Ellyn Police Department stating that Alcorn came to her residence, rang her doorbell, and waited outside in his car.

“On or about December 12, 2024, in DuPage County, Illinois case no. 20240P002064, patient A obtained an Emergency Order of Protection against Alcorn. The Emergency Order of Protection ordered Alcorn to stay at least 1,000 feet away from patient A and patient A's residence. The Emergency Order of Protection prohibited Alcorn from contacting patient A.”
