Massachusetts Bars Psychiatrist Steven W. Powell from Renewing License following Fraud Conviction

Massachusetts has revoked former psychiatrist Dr. Steven W. Powell’s right to renew his medical license following his federal conviction for health care fraud. Powell pleaded guilty in 2023, admitting that he electronically signed orders for over $1.9 million in unnecessary durable medical equipment—such as knee and ankle braces—knowing they would be used to submit fraudulent Medicare claims, and  received kickbacks for each order.
